someone blogged me!

hey, i have been blogged about on our work blog. ch-ch-ch-check it out! same photo on there

otherwise haven't been doing much. have been working hard (and drinking hard) with my workmates. there's some dodgy photos of me trying to be a gangsta from the other night that i hope no one in nz ever sees.

also been swimming still, found myself a new swimming buddy in the form of Jeffrey Ong. he competed for malaysia at the

1988 seoul olympics in the 1500m. so i'm swimming with the big guns here! at a new pool which is quite fun - it's 30m long, and gets quite busy.

tonight i'm going to a play called terre haute. will be good hopefully.

lately...

For those of you who don't already know, I've started a new job at justgiving.com, which is a charity/fundraising website. I have a position working on the charity helpdesk, so it's like the fingertip library for charities (if you don't know about the fingertip library no need to worry). You can see who I work with as well!

Last week I worked on the stall we had at the Flora London Marathon Expo. As participants came to register we gave them the opportunity to check their fundraising pages. After they'd checked their pages, we gave them a wrist sweatband with our name embroidered on them. We had a massive box full of them and i tested their ability to cushion my butt, as you can see illustrated in the photo. They were very cosy.

Otherwise lately!
Cool things I've done recently:

Watched the Cambridge vs Oxford rowing race on the Thames with Fran and her mates

Visited the Gilbert & George exhibit at the Tate Modern (which was AMAZING) with Jess

Went for a curry on Brick Lane

Picnic in Hyde Park with Isabel and her mates

Dinner with Gene at this fantastic South African restaurant in Putney

First couple of BBQs for the year

Played some scrabble with Kirsty and James (lost every game thus far)

The weather has been great/I've got a bit of a tan. Down below are some photogs from the rowing race. It was on the Saturday of Easter weekend.

monday-itis

This morning suffered from severe case of this and now have to go the gym after work since i slept instead of going this morning. Lazy!

But the weekend was nice - the weather on saturday was beautiful, i would at a guess say it was nearly 14 degs. Had breakfast at a really cool little brasserie in Chiswick, then went shopping at Topshop with felicity who bought stuff and i just watched....destitution is a hard life! Then saturday night i was supposed to meet up with becs and gav in islington but the night started early with a few drinks in fulham, and by the late hour i heard from them i was slightly drunk and too far away, but i had a good time in fulham at the elk bar and hope to see becs soon! Top photograph is Lauren, Lindy and I at the Elk Bar.

This second photo is of me at work! hahahaha this was Friday night, was very quiet as all the students were at the bar downstairs so i had time to just take a quick shot.

Makeover

I've given the old blog a bit of a makeover, just to freshen things up and to inspire me to write in here a bit more. There used to be a bit of a following and I feel a certain obligation to those faithful to continue this as I am still doing things here I just need to maintain enthusiasm for recording them on here.
So I am working temporarily in the library at the Central School of Speech and Drama. It's a small, dedicated to the arts library and I'm a learning and information assistant. That means I issue books, dvds, cds, headphones and the like, help them with the photocopier, read the paper, and talk to my interesting new colleague Rachel. They have quite a list of famous alumni from this school, clicking on the link and then finding that page is not too difficult to see those names including Judi Dench, Rupert Everett, Gael Garcia Bernal, Harold Pinter and others. Pretty impressive!
Last week I went to a display at the National Portrait Gallery and they had a selection of photographs of prominent early 20th century women writers. It was cool, almost as cool as these insights into the workrooms of several contemporary writers that the Guardian have been doing in their Literary Review on Saturdays. Oooh, I will link to that another time the Guardian site is down.
I have been busy training for the Swimathon that I am doing as well, thought I'd keep up a distance diary on here for those who are interested and are sponsoring me: since I sent out the email to everyone I have swum 18.5km. By the time the actual day comes I hope to have swum over 60km.
The top photo is to indicate my tribe. That photo I took in Wellington during my time at home. The bottom photo is of my flatmate Felicity and I out on Australia day. I think I look freaking hilarious in this photo. Someone is tickling me under my arm so that is why my face is all screwed up. I have no explanation as to why I am all red and shiny though. WEIRD.

my summer in NP

This here is a slideshow with some photos from the 5 weeks I spent in NZ. Combination of a few different events, like the wedding, a tramp up the mountain. Hope that this is fun for everyone!
